The University of Ouargla celebrated the 62nd anniversary of the popular demonstrations that took place in the city of Ouargla on February 27, 1962, under the slogan “The Role of the People of Ouargla in Achieving Unity,” over the course of two days, February 26 and 27, 2024, at University Pole No. 01, in the presence of the University’s Director, Professor Mohamed Al-Taher Hulilat with the Secretary General of the University, the deans of the colleges, the directors of the two institutes, and the general secretaries of the colleges.

On the sidelines of the celebrations, the Material Sciences Club for Artificial Intelligence was launched at the College of Mathematics and Material Sciences, and a planting campaign was organized and a drawing workshop embodying epic and historical artistic paintings on the occasion.

On this occasion, an exhibition was organized by scientific clubs from various colleges, in which the students’ works were displayed, along with an exhibition containing a group of photos and historical documents that narrate the details of those heroic demonstrations.

In the same context, the families of the Mujahideen who participated in these demonstrations were honored, in appreciation of their giving and sacrifices for the sake of the homeland.
Professors and historians also gave historical lectures that dealt with the context of those demonstrations and their importance in the course of the Algerian liberation revolution, and interventions in which the importance of national unity and the role of the people of Ouargla in achieving it were emphasized.
